Eyrline, I think that politician was being self-serving. He wants that ‘revival’ because he knows that conservative Christians will be the most vociferous in supporting Israel. That is what he really cares about, not the ‘hope of America’.
IF people remember history from the Old Testament, the entire Book of Zephaniah is given over to the coming destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians. There were two reasons for this: 1. the idolatry of God’s people; 2. Their terrible record of injustice. Also guilty of injustice were Jerusalem’s prophets, priests, and princes. (Politicians)
