It reminds me of Zerlina in Act 2 of Don Giovanni singing “Batti, Batti.” Masetto wants to kill the Don, who asks him if he has a good weapon. Masetto shows him his musket and pistol, whereupon Don takes them from him and beats him with the flat of his sword and runs off. When Masetto cries out, Zerlina finds him not as hurt as he thinks. She sings to him Mozartean magic she has for him. She lays his hand on her heart as he hobbles off stage with her, half healed. She sings, “Let all fear and doubt be ended. Let our lives in joy be blended! Let me still be your intended, that is all I want to be.”
